Can Captain Smart Survive Multimedia's Tracker?
If you are an ardent listener of any of the Multimedia Group's radio stations, you may have come across a certain 'organism' called tracker.
It is said this tracker rates the performances of presenters of their stations as well as measure how many people listen to a particular presenter. It is this tracker that caused the exit of Fiifi Boafo, Ekuoba Gyasi, Dr Prekese, Dr Asanka and Adakabre Frimpong Manso.
It has also been said that the tracker is real and efficient and that if a presenter plays their game well, they may never incur the wrath of this tracker. However, some have said that the tracker is difficult to please and is no respecter of persons.
That brings to mind how long it is going to keep Kumasi import Blessed Godsbrain Smart aka Captain Smart on the morning show. Is he going to be on Adom FM's 'Dwaso Nsem' till he quits of his volition or he would be made to quit few metres on the way just as happened to his predecessors?
I have listened to Captain Smart and I must be honest he is damn smart. He has command over language, sounds very confident but relaxed, has a sense of humour, has depth in issues and very intelligent but the question is: 'what is he doing that was not done by Fiifi Boafo, Ekuoba or Adakabre?'
What he does is not extraordinarily better than what his predecessors did that sent them packing. Yes, it may be too early to start doing any critical assessment of his presentation but having done the work for about more than a month, one would have a fair idea of what he can and cannot do.
In the meantime, Adakabre Frimpong Manso who was ousted from Adom FM's morning show 'Dwaso Nsem' and replaced by former Captain Smart, is reported to have taken a new job as morning show host and head of programmes at Despite Group's new baby, Asomdwee 100.9FM which is still on test transmission. This means that Adakabre would no longer host the morning show on Multi TV, 'Badwam' as earlier reported in the media.
We are waiting to see how Adakabre's new show goes and compared to Adom FM's 'Dwaso Nsem.' I just wish Multimedia would learn a lesson that getting to the top in the competition is not necessarily about hiring and firing at will. After all, the company you are chasing doesn't do that.

I know Despite's new radio station is going to be the third force in Accra mass radio when it starts operating in earnest. As Multimedia keeps firing, Despite keeps soaring as their stations are almost always placed ahead of Multimedia's in Synovate's surveys.
