Alhaji Njee - Avoid complacency
Former board and management member, Alhaji Abubakar Salifu alias Alhaji Njee, has advised the Kotoko family to guard against complacency ahead of Sunday's Champions League match at home to Algerian side, JSM Bejaia.
Alhaji Njee, who was on the trip for the first leg match as a special guest, says his caution is purely borne out of his first hand information on the performance of JSM Bejaia.
"I was fortunate to have watched the first leg match with my naked eyes at the Bejaia Stadium. I can say that they are a good side. They could be dangerous on a good day".
He says much as he has full confidence in Kotoko players and their coaches, the goalless score line in Bejaia seems to have made many Kotoko fans complacent and that could reduce their enthusiasm.
"We cannot take things for granted. I remember right on our way from Algeria, I kept hammering that the good away results must be managed well because it has the tendency to open us up for a shock. I don't know how that admonition was taken but the shocking result we had against King Faisal is there for all to see," he said.
Alhaji Njee maintains that his call for higher seriousness towards the match was not to be a prophet of doom, but to sound caution. His call therefore, "is to get every one of the Kotoko family involved so that together, we record a sound victory to advance to the next stage of the competition".
