Update: 5 kicked out of MTN Hitmaker
It was a usual eviction night, but what viewers and contestants of the MTN Hitmaker Season 3 witnessed over the weekend on television was unusual.
With three wild cards, Emperor, Kwaku Samson and Abigail, contestants who couldn’t make it into the final 12 but can still possibly be brought in to compete with the contestants – performing, the battle lines were drawn.
After breath-taking performances, great reviews and comments from the judges, five contestants including two wild cards were sent parking.
Unfortunately, Samson B, Ink and Fameye had to exit the competition paving way for Emperor (a wild card) to be a part of the eight contestants who have made it to the next stage of the competition, which is truly heating up.
Songbird, Raquel, passed through as guest judge and noted that the hard work of these contestants, week in week out, was impressive.
“These guys are really tough. Writing, recording and producing a song every week is not an easy job. I salute each and every one of them.”
Evicted contestant Fameye, who couldn’t believe his fate, broke down in tears and had to be consoled by his teeming fans backstage.
On the night, R Tay won Best Performance whiles Torgbe won Best Dressed and Dikoder won Best Production with most interactive fan going to Sharon Asamoah.
Visit to the maestro’s studio
After all the pressure had died down, the Contestants had a time with the music maestro, Kojo Antwi, at his studio where he mentored them on various aspects of music such as the business aspect of music.
He also touched on the need to have a purpose for each song composed, ways by which they can survive in the music industry and being original even in the kind of lyrics that they create.
He further had a session where the contestants were given the opportunity to ask him questions and he on the other hand answered them appropriately.
