Stoke City Appoint Mark Hughes

The Premier League side announced on Thursday morning that the former Fulham, Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers manager will replace Tony Pulis, who left the Potters last week.

The 49-year-old has been out of work since he was sacked by QPR in November.

Stoke chairman Peter Coates admitted the club needed a fresh direction following Pulis' departure and sees Hughes as the man to implement a more attractive style of football.

It has been reported that Mark Bowen will join Hughes at the Britannia Stadium as his No 2.
The Staffordshire club are to hold a news conference regarding Hughes's appointment at around 11am.

A club statement read: "The club will be holding a press conference to unveil Mark Hughes as their new manager.

"The event will take place at the Training Facility at Clayton Wood at 11.00am, with the media asked to report to the Press Room from 10.30am.

"New manager Mark Hughes, chairman Peter Coates and chief executive Tony Scholes will be present for the media to put their questions to at this press conference."
