Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has suffered a fresh injury setback as he has been ruled out for an estimated period of two months with a knee injury, meaning he will not be available for the Black Stars in next month’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The new Ghana international underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to fix the injury.
The 21-year-old was said to have suffered the injury while with Fulham where he spent the remaining half of Premier League season on loan.

This is the second major knee operation Frimpong has undergone.
He suffered a similar injury at the tail end of last season while on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Frimpong made his Black Stars debut in the 4-0 win over Sudan in the 2014 World Cup qualifier two months in Kumasi.

The injury however robs him off a place in the Ghana team for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho.

He joins compatriot; Isaac Vorsah who is also ruled out with a long-term injury.
The ex England youth international is however expected to regain full fitness before the commencement of 2013/14 football season.

He has already started rehabilitation works following the successful surgery on Wednesday.
