Obinim arrested over GHc11.6m ritual fraud

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has revealed to Starr News that the founder of the International God’s Way Church Bishop Daniel Obinim has been arrested for an GHC11.6 million fraud. Public Relations Officer of the Police CID ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwa stated on Starr Today that Obinim would later be handed over to DOVVSU to be investigated for publicly flogging two teenage members of his church. According to ASP Darkwa, a complaint was lodged with the Police in Tema by a businessman who indicated that he handed over an amount of GHC11.5 million to Obinim to perform a ritual for him but the pastor failed to perform the ritual and has also failed to refund the money. He clarified that Obinim did not turn himself in and was arrested over the fraud case. ASP Darkwa, however, confirmed that Obinim and one of his associates have been charged with physical and verbal assault for flogging a pregnant girl and her boyfriend. The police

Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong says the club's chances of winning this season's Ghana Premier League are still alive. The Porcupine Warriors are still in fourth place after fight back to earn a 1-1 draw at Sekondi Hasaacas. This leaves them four points behind leaders Wa All Stars with four matches left to the end of the season. With difficult matches against Berekum Chelsea at home and two away games at Medeama and AshantiGold and final showdown with WAFA, Frimpong insists nobody should write them off. "We are not down and out. We still have hopes of winning the league because anything can happen in the game of football," the versatile defender said on Kumasi-based Fox FM. Hull City close in on Asamoah Gyan

Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan has hinted he could be playing in the English Premier League after heading to the British High Commission minutes after arriving in Ghana. According to reports in the United Kingdom Hull City are desperate for the signature of the Shanghai SIPG man. Gyan is in the market for a club after falling low in the pecking order with Shanghai SIPG, with whom he joined for record fee a year ago. The 30 year-old has struggled for both form and fitness and will be looking to revive his career in the English Premier League. Gyan is Ghana's record goal scorer with 48 goals in over 90 appearance for the Black Stars. The Ghanaian is not new to the English Premier League having played for Sunderland in the 2010/2011 season. "We were deported from Belgium" - Willie & Mike

Gospel musicians Willie and Mike have disclosed that they were deported from Belgium when embarking on their first European tour years ago. The group on Accra FM’s gospel entertainment show, Gospel 360 narrating how the hapless incident happened said their flight had to land in Brussels, Belgium instead of France due to a turbulence in Paris. They said customs at the airport stopped them from boarding the next flight due to reasons they described as baseless. According to Willie who gave the account, they spent three days at ‘counter back’ in Belgium without having access to their phones to contact relatives back home. He continued that they had to be deported and that also came with its own challenges. Delineating their journey back home after the unfortunate incident that happened unexpectedly and unintentionally in the Western European country, he told the host, Andy Favoured that they were imprisoned when they arrived in Egypt. Prophet Kobi to raise $10,000 for Actor Jaga Pee

                                                             Actor Jaga Pee The leader and founder of Glorious Waves Church International, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, has pledged to raise $10,000 for Ghanaian veteran actor Jaga Pee who has been battling illness for months and needs GHC40,000 for a surgical operation at the 37 Military Hospital. The celebrity pastor who made this known to his congregation during Mondays all night service, said that together with the church on Sunday, they will raise $10,000 for the actor. Before the prophet’s intervention, the actor was admitted at the 37 hospital. He prayed and prophesied into the life of the actor. Wife of Jaga Pee known as Maame, in an interview with the media said she doesn’t have up to the amount the hospital requires for the operation and that she has spent all past donations on her husband’s sickness – leaving her with only Ghc 500.
