Ray Rice Speaks Out For The First Times Since Wife Beating Video
“I have to be strong for my wife. She is so strong. We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for (Janay) and my family right now and work through this.”
Ray reportedly then handed the phone to Janay and she expressed the following:
“I love my husband. I support him. I want people to respect our privacy in this family matter.”
When the incident took place, the couple appeared to have had a heated discussion. As soon as the elevators opened and the pair stepped in, a physical confrontation took place with Ray punching his then fiancee Janay, twice. The young woman crumpled down to the floor after being struck by Ray but on her way, her head struck the elevator handrails. Janay was knocked out cold and her fiancé appeared to be unaffected by her unconsciousness.
When the celeb website posted the graphic Rice video, the end result was catastrophic for the gridiron player. He was fired from the Ravens, suspended indefinitely from the NFL and lost endorsement deals with Nike, M&T Bank, BodyArmor sports drink, VertiMax training equipment and Electronic Arts.
In another prickly move in response to the Rice brouhaha, the Ravens announced Tuesday they will offer an exchange for fans owning Ray Rice jerseys–OUCH!
