              Teacher Chops Students Exams Fees



Forty-year-old Benjamin Clover, Director of Progressive Star Academy, Dansoman, has been nabbed by the police for defrauding 19 WASSCE students of his school.

The suspect was said to have collected monies ranging from GH¢150 to GH¢200 from the students to register them for the November- December West African Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) but ended up bolting with the money.

Suspect later went into hiding, but his student who found out, reported the matter to the Mamprobi Police.

Police managed to arrest suspect Clover at Asoredanho, Dansoman and was arraigned before court last Monday.

Suspect, with the help of his council filed for his bail which was granted by the court.

However, on arrival from court, two students who claimed they had also been defrauded by the suspect lodged another complaint of fraud against suspect.

Confirming the story to Daily Guide, Superintendent Peter A.K Ayiresang, Mamprobi District Police Commander said suspect was freed as he had to be detained to answer another charge of fraud levelled against him.

The total number of students defrauded so far is 19.

According to the students, the suspect taught them Accounting at Progressive Star Academy, where they had enrolled for an Accounting lesson.

Later, each student was asked by the suspect to pay GH¢150 and GH¢200 respectively to enable him to register them for the WASSE examination.

After collecting the monies from the students, suspect went into hiding and was never seen. Some of the students, who realized that they had not been registered after cross checking from WAEC, reported the matter to the police.

Upon hearing of his arrest, some students who were victims also visited the station to also lodge another complaint.

Suspect Benjamin Clover would be sent back to court later.
