Owabi Damn polluted with filth

Image
Most people in the world get their water from rivers and lakes, including the vast majority of the world’s poorest people. But half of the world’s 500 most important rivers – water sources for hundreds of millions of people – are being seriously depleted or polluted. Water shortages will likely be a fact of life for most people on the planet within the next ten years . We can’t afford to pollute and destroy our drinking water sources. But that’s exactly what we’re doing – often without knowing it. We are facing dirtier, unsafe water and more risk of water shortages and scarcity. This crisis is real, it’s happening now and it’s getting worse fast.   As humans, are we happy? Ain't you ashamed seeing the Owabi Damn, our source of drinking water covered with trash? Ain't you sad seeing the Owabi Damm in it's current state? Why are we doing this to ourselves as a country? The Owabi dam, property of the Government of Ghana, was established in 19...

Who Am I?

Image
I am a graduate of Christian Service University College. I hold Bachelor of Arts in communication studies with public relations as my speciality.  On March 13th, 2018, I received the news I was expecting.  ”Your application to pursue the Erasmus Mundus Journalism programme, Media and Globalisation, has received careful consideration. With almost 500 applicants and only 90 available places, entry to the programme is extremely competitive. With this in mind, we take great pleasure to inform you that the Erasmus Mundus Journalism Masters Consortium has decided to offer you a programme placement.” After reading few lines of the admission letter, I kept my composure and smiled within. I called few friends to share the news with them. They were excited for me. Having known about the Erasmus Mundus programme for a longer time, I consider it one of the best Master's scholarships you can have. Master in Journalism, Media and Globalisation, is a programme...

Prove we are satisfying our own interest – FIFPAG to Salam

Image
The Public Relations officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Nana Yaa Serwaa Osei has said movie producer, Abdul Salam Mumuni should provide evidence to support his allegation that the current leadership of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) are only interested in satisfying their pockets and not the industry’s need. Speaking to Ray Charles Marfo on Showbiz Arena on Adehye FM, Nana Yaa Serwaa Osei debunked Abdul Salam’s claims stating that the association has no source of income. “There is no money in our possession. Everyone knows that our members don’t even pay dues every month, we deduct their Audiovisual Society of Ghana (ASOG) money every year to pay their dues. Just ask yourself the amount of the dues; it’s just GHS10 so just imagine the money that FIPAG receives. I don’t know whether Abdul Salam Mumuni is confusing ASOG with FIPAG.” “I can tell you that FIPAG executives are not paid for the work we do. If you ask our memb...

There is no enmity among presenters in Kumasi – Richard Achampong of Nhyira FM

Image
Richard Achampong Sports pundit, Richard Achampong, has stated that there is no enmity among radio presenters in the Kumasi Metropolis as its been speculated. He stated, it's an undeniable fact that they cannot all be friends, but that doesn’t imply they are foes. ”I am not sure that it’s factually correct. We do communicate through other programs, but for example, it is practically unimaginable for a sports presenter of Angel Fm, Fox Fm, Kessben Fm or Nhyira Fm to pass through the programme of these stations, same as Ash Fm, Silver, Otec Fm or New Mercury. But I have visited more stations and talked on their network. It was possible because their programme time did not collide with my own. There is no ill will in the Kumasi Media, it is only a fact that we cannot all be friends.” But a fellow sports   presenter, Opoku Afriyie who works with Fox Fm is of a different opinion. “Presenters in Kumasi are like the Israelites and the Palestinians.   There are...

You are funny to say RTP Awards is not Credible – Korsi Asiseh of Kapital Radio

Image
The general manager for Kapital Radio, Mr. Korsi Asiseh has taken a swipe at former winners of the Radio and Television Personality Awards who are now discrediting the scheme because they failed to win or get nominated. Today at 7:30am, Mr. Asiseh, took to his fcebook timeline and said: “ Isn’t it interesting that when you got the award you were full of praise for the organizers. Today it’s somebody else’s turn and just within the twinkle of an eye the event is not credible and a joke. You guys are funny. To me if RTP was credible to the winners of yesterday it is credible to the winners of today. # simple ” It’s not clear who his post on facebook was directed to but if you could remember; I published an article yesterday where Sir Joe, a sports host on Kessben fm was quoted as saying; " The RTP awards started very well but now it has turned to concert. In fact they have lost their credibility." This is the position of Mr. Asiseh on the just ended RTP Award...
