Exclusive: Ike Owusu Ansah takes over Metro Fm’s Academic and matured sports
Ghana’s leading sports radio station announced a number of changes to its on-air sports program on Friday, with one controversial move landing with a loud thud to the ears of many listeners.
The 'choice of the people', Ike Owusu Ansah, according to an official statement from Metro Fm’s Board of Directors will be taking over Academic and Matured sports in February 2nd.
Based on the changes to the sports team, Kwabena Asante Nfodwo Jones will from 2nd February not be part of on air presentation. The sources could not disclose if he was sacked after receiving a suspension to proceed on leave for Slapping the host of Sunrise Vibration Mr. Ramsey Twumasi Addison in the presence of the former General Manager. However, the official statement never made mention the where about of PJ, the former General Manager and host of the sports show.
“When the idea first came up, I was very hesitant. Then I spent a lot of time with the board. We know his capabilities; he’s a great team guy. He knows sports, he’s engaging and he’s a terrific broadcaster,” Samson Deen, CEO of Metro 94.1 said. “
“And I think people of talent and character should be given a chance. I also think when listeners give him the needed support; they will be pleasantly surprised by the role he’s going to be playing with us.”
From Monday February 2nd, Ike will front line Academic and matured sports with the help of Frank Naro, O.B, Thomas Freeman, The Yese Yese Man, Osarfo Addo, Man Aprek and Steva.
